Amazon Best Sellers List – May 2024
Those of you who follow me on Instagram may already know the surprise that I discussed on stories. In case you missed it, I’ll recap here.
First, I want to emphasize that South Carolina truly has our hearts. We are so excited to be here. We love this house, our neighborhood, the pool!
However, we didn’t realize that 10 miles in Charleston traffic equals an hour car ride.
Our kids’ school is 10 miles from our current home. The thought of our family spending hours in the car to travel to and from school makes it seem less ideal.
We opted to use this as a teaching moment. We explained to the kids what we are thinking to solve this problem.
Solution 1: we switch to a school closer to home. The verdict: no. The kids are excited for this school and it aligns with our family values.
Solution 2: we move.
I’ll wait for your shock. We just moved here and looking to move again seems stressful and crazy!
At the same time, I want our kids to understand that we did the best we could with the information we had at the time. It is okay to say, “I made a mistake.” It is okay to say, “we need to pivot.” It is okay to say, “this doesn’t work for us.”
We will have our eyes and ears open and look for a house that will work for our family in a location that is closer to their school.
We plan to continue making this house a home. We will continue to show up for our kids. We will continue to make sure our kids know that they are the most important people in our world and we won’t settle for seeing them less.
Family Life Updates
What more can I possibly update you all on other than that big news?
Well, I may have forgotten to mention that our house is officially on the market, again.
In between house showings, we are still loving Charleston summers. It has been such a fun experience to explore the beach and see different parts of the surrounding areas.
We are spending tons of time at different beaches. We are loving the pool in our backyard. A pool is now a must for our forever home.
The kids have all taken to swimming so well. The older 3 are all doing swim team. As the non-athletic one in the family, I was shocked at how long these events last!
In between swim meets we got to visit with some friends who came from St. Louis. This was such a breath of fresh air.
It was exciting to share our new city with them and show them why we love it so much.
Our families have been friends for several years now. Our kids are all around the same ages and get along so well together.
We spent the days in the pool and our nights filling our bellies with fresh seafood. It was just what our hearts needed.
House Projects
With the house on the market projects have obviously stopped.
Fortunately, we did knock out quite a few rooms before we went live. We finished Jack’s room, our dining room, the girls bathroom, and part of our master bedroom.
I love the grand-millennial style and this house really reflects that throughout the rooms. While we aren’t going to continue doing projects here, I am of course going to continue to plan and daydream about our future house- whenever and whereever that may be.
Organization
With projects on hold, you can still expect to see tons of organizational content. I’m very open about how passionate I am on sharing organizational tips to help keep your family home functional.
If you are overwhelmed with the chaos in your life, just start small. You can begin in one room, one closet, one cabinet even, and go from there.
Organization doesn’t have to be expensive either. Pick up clear bins from the dollar store or Target circle. You can even reuse bins other areas of your home and swap them out for a space where it works even better.
Chiefly, the biggest tip I have before starting to organize your home is to make sure you take the time to go through everything. You’ll want to have a donate, trash, and keep pile. This step specifically is crucial as it will help make sure you are saving only the necessities.
If you plan to organize multiple rooms, you’ll want to make a list of priorities. Start with the space with the highest traffic. In turn, this will give you the biggest return on your investment and have the biggest impact.
Lastly, after planning, prioritizing, and preparing, you can begin the actual process of organizing. While it may take several hours or days depending on the size of your project, the end result will be well worth it!
