Merry & Bright Pink Christmas Decor

Last year I went all in on ‘Merry and Bright’ (I’ll link to those posts in a bit).  So this year I wanted to find ways to show you more inspiration with that same theme but in different ways.  One of the only spaces that didn’t get the colorful look last year was my office, so this year I went with some bright pink Christmas decor, and went full on Merry and bright in my office.  I fully committed to the point of rearranging my furniture haha.

I am going a bit less bright with my living room this year to change things up, so it was fun to REALLY commit in my office.  It makes for such a fun space to walk past.  Before I share this whole room and the details, be sure to check out the round up below with a bunch of the best Merry and Bright decor I found this year!

Merry & Bright Pink Christmas Decor – Office Tour

All sources will be linked at the end of this post. My office is a pretty good blank slate.  When we transformed it to my office we did these IKEA built in’s which gives me so much space to add fun decor, and as opposed to my living room, where there is a brown wood mantle, the office looks amazing with the bright colors.

Merry and bright built in decor

Previously, when I did my office, my couch was actually where my desk is, and the desk where my couch is, but I honestly use my couch more often, so when I was deciding how I wanted this room to look I decided to give it a try switching it, and LOVE how it looks.  I can now sit at my couch and blog and look out the windows, and it allowed me to put my tree close to the door so the whole family can enjoy it more.

The Details

 Books

I talked a bit in my Instagram stories about how I actually painted some of the books that are normally on my shelves for this project.  I use books from thrift stores for layering on shelves all the time, so it was a fun inexpensive way to add pops of color to just paint them.  (simply use craft paint and DONE!).

pink and gold wood nutcrackers on built in shelving

Bottle Brush Trees

Another aspect was the bottle brush trees.  I had LOTS of trees from last year, but was going so much more pink in my decor this year I needed a lot more pink.  So some of these are actually THESE from Hobby Lobby that I dyed different shades of pink, as well as some of them are THESE that I bleached then dyed.  The bleaching didn’t take out all the color but did lighten them enough to take on a pink shade when dyed.

Pink bottle brush trees

To Dye them some of them were dyed with craft paint and water and soaked.  This method takes MUCH longer, and the paint to water ratio has to be pretty high, but it does work.  The other method is to use food dye. This is much faster, so for lots of them I did that.  I actually purchased a few shades of pink dye and soaked the trees a little longer each time.  After 1 or 2 were done in one shad I would add a bit of a darker pink dye to give it a new color I was dipping them in.

Lots of pink and white bottle brush trees

If you’re looking for some pink bottle brush trees I also will link to some already done below

Set of 3 Pink Bottle Brush Trees  |  These are so fun – got some for our entry way  |  This set of 3 could easily be dyed pink!

Pink Bottle brush trees and gold mirror

Nutcrackers

The other colorful aspect I DIYed in here were these nutcrackers.  They are simple wood nutcrackers that I painted in craft paint on some parts then added gold glitter to other parts. (to add glitter, paint glue on those areas AFTER ALL THE PAINT IS DRY, then pour on the glitter). My original plan with them was to do solid nutcrackers, but I was a bit worried in this space that they would have added too much color.  I felt like the neutral wood was needed.  I do think I might add fully painted in more muted tones to my living room decor, so stay tuned for that.

Wood and pink and gold DIY nutcrackers

The Wreath

The wreath was a super easy way to add a LOT of holiday cheer for very little effort.  Finding an affordable wreath that was flocked wasn’t happening, so I ended up using THIS SPRAY and flocking one from Hobby Lobby.  I love how it turned out, and I added some pom poms from last years DIY pom pom stockings to add a but more.

Aside from that I kept things super neutral with lots of wickers and natural wood like I always do.  I did add a fun pillow that I am obsessed with, as well as the JOLLY sign that were both on my merry and bright favorites round up.

Favorite Items for 2 Month Olds & Goldie Mae 2 Month Update

Our sweet Goldie Mae is TWO MONTHS OLD! Seriously, time is flying more and more with each of my babies, and it is breaking my heart.  I told you guys last month, that one thing I would be working on is monthly round ups of what we loved the most each month.  So on top of our update on sweet Goldie, I am also sharing the favorite items for 2 month olds.

The Rest of her monthly updates and Favorite Items

2 Month Update on Goldie

Sweet Goldie is doing so well.  She is easily our smiliest baby of the crew, and she lets out little squeals.  She is pretty content, but does love to be held, or worn in the Solly baby wrap.  Overall she is sleeping super well – going down in her bed rom 7-10 pm.  We then wake her up for a quick feed at 10, and she sleeps until roughly 5 am most days.  After that super early morning feed we put her back down in her own room, which has been great for handling the other kids in the before school chaos!

She loves to be sung to, to be held, to be worn, being rocked in her chair, and basically anything that gives her attention…and being the youngest in a 6 person household means there is no shortage of attention

2 Month Postpartum Update

I definitely finally feel back to myself physically, and finally just got my first workout in.  Things definitely feel different from day to day emotionally right now.  There have been lots of changes to our day to day lives, and I am just learning to navigate the new, and find balance.  I am a SUPER structured mom, so the older she gets, the more of a schedule we are on, and thus the better I am doing.

For me the hardest things right now have been: learning to juggle work and a newborn, and juggling my attention with all the kids.  I get asked a lot ‘how I do it all’, and the truth is that I don’t.  And the moments I do get a lot done, I basically feel like I’m drowning.  So just remember that just because things look put together, doesn’t mean it always is.  This time of year is SO busy for me work wise, and I am trying to find balance, but that doesn’t always happen easily.

And the kids – there is always something with someone, and there is always attention needed by someone, so although I think we will settle  into a new normal, this season is very busy, and I think most of us are feeling that.

Overall – things are good.  But they are also hard! haha

Car Upkeep with Jiffy Lube

This post is sponsored by Jiffy Lube, however all opinions are 100% my own.

I cannot believe that October is coming to an end, and the true holiday season is gearing up.  We are in full blown planning mode, in all areas, and that includes our cars! October is National Car Care Month, and I have teamed up with Jiffy Lube to share with all of you the benefits to car upkeep with Jiffy Lube.

Celebrate National Care Care Month with Some Car Upkeep with Jiffy Lube

October is so appropriately car care month, giving you time to get all the needed maintenance on your car done before the craziness of the holidays as well as your holiday travel.  For me keeping my car up to date and safe is EXTREMELY important with 4 little passengers with us anywhere we go.

Jiffy Lube Sign

Car maintenance is just like checkups for your kids.  When you take your car to Jiffy Lube for an oil change it keeps things healthy and watches for problems!  Check with your cars manufacturer on how many miles you should go between oil changes to see how often that should happen!  The thing I LOVED about getting my oil changed at Jiffy Lube is they also check so much more than oil when they are changing oil.

Mom and kids in the back of traverse

While you are there they will also check your air filters, engine coolant, transmission & other fluids, windshield wipers and blades, air conditioning, and belts and hoses.  I love that when I drove away I knew where my car was with all of those aspects, and felt safe to gear up for holiday travel.  (I also loved that they were really honest and didn’t try to up sell me on things I didn’t need done!)

I know so many of you following me are moms, so you will be able to relate to making sure your car is as safe as possible for your sweet babies. And trust me, getting your oil changed with Jiffy Lube will come with some great quiet time in their comfortable waiting room (oh the things we find enjoyable once we have little ones at home HA!).

Affordable Sky Themed Nursery Decor

This post about affordable sky themed nursery decor is sponsored by Walmart, however all opinions are 100% my own.

Incase you missed my nursery reveal a couple of weeks ago – I am ALL about the sky theme in nursery’s right now.  There is something so fun and whimsical of mixing the fun aspects of that that keeps a nursery from being too matchy matchy, while still being fun and pulled together with an underlying theme.

Prepping for a baby is already SO expensive, so I know a lot of the time, decorating needs to come with some great, affordable options, so in this post I am rounding up some of my favorite finds from Walmart.  I loved that a lot of these items could easily go for boy or girl, and would be AMAZING for a gender neutral nursery.

Stocking up on affordable basics

Another great way to save some money when you’re prepping for baby and putting together a nursery to to find affordable basics.  Walmart’s Parents Choice brand has been one of my favorite brands for those every day basics.  You can easily grab diapers, wipes, soaps and more when you’re doing your weekly shopping, and you’ll get amazing products at a great price.

Parents Choice Diapers and wipes in nursery

Parents Choice is currently celebrating their 20th anniversary, so I was on a mission to find some of my favorite items to share with you all.  Many of the products in the round up above are Parents Choice, as well as all the items I am going to link below.

Items like burp cloths, mattress protectors, and bibs are other great products to get on a budget.  They are needed items that just need to FUNCTION WELL, and that is one thing that Parents Choice has perfected in their 20 years.

One last area that many people don’t realize they can save a lot of money with babies is formula.  With all of my babies I have had to transition to formula at some point in the first 6 months.  It wasn’t until my second baby was about 9 months old that a friend told me there was NO reason to be buying the name brand infant formulas.  That because baby formula is so highly regulated there is a complete breakdown of the formula on all brands.  So I went and checked it out, and SURE ENOUGH, its the same thing.  We switched to this gentle formula, and have never looked back.

Parents Choice Products in Nursery

** and as a mom hack – I have talked about this on my Instagram stories, but with formula being an everyday item for the first year, we leave it out on our counter.  I have always used a canister to store the formula so its not such an eyesore.  A couple months ago I grabbed this one from Walmart and have been loving it.  I personally use the largest size for formula! **

Easy Last Minute Halloween Costume for a Baby

I wanted to create a costume that could easily be recreated via Amazon Prime or target for Goldie this year, but also wanted it to be something you could do for older ages too.  I created this Hamburgler costume super quick and easily, and am going to link options you could buy for non babies too!

You need: a black and white striped dress or shirt

Hamburger

Black Cape

Eye Mask

other optional parts I would likely do for a bigger child or adult: red tie, black hat with yellow sash, and reg gloves.

What I used:

I made Goldie’s cape out of one piece of felt, and also used that piece of felt for an eyemask.  I used a piece of stretchy band from an old headband on the eyemask.

You could easily use red felt for the tie if you choose, also!

For the hamburger we already have a HUGE assortment of felt food, so I used some of that!

Grab these items to create your last minute look!

Guest Bedroom Decorating Tips with Serena & Lily Best in Class Bedding

I am the type of person who LOVES to host.  I love having people over, and guests in my home.  Something about prepping for it brings me so much joy, so I was so excited about this little project.  Creating an inviting guest space in your home is so important.  There is nothing better than knowing that when someone is staying with you they are comfortable and fully enjoying their time away from home.  I am excited to share with you some guest bedroom decorating tips with Serena & Lily best in class bedding.  A few tips and tricks, and the right products will make your guest space a place your guests will love to stay.

Make sure if you like anything you see in this post you run over to Serena & Lily – bedding and beds are up to 30% off for the sleep well event!

Guest Bedroom Decorating Tips

First off I want to state that for the sake of these photos I staged this in my master bedroom, so if you have been around for a while, you may recognize the room.  Our guest space is in our basement and the room has not one window…so if you want to sleep with noise canceling headphones and drown out my 4 children, you will probably sleep like a baby in the room.  I HOWEVER would be posting pictures of a black hole, so refrained from needing all the photo lights the store had to offer, and staged things above ground!

I am going to give you my tips and tricks for making your guest space more inviting in this post.  I think with just a few things on hand you will completely wow you guests, and they will leave raving about your guest room.

Teak Ladder Mirror Serena and Lily

 Don’t skimp on the product

I kind of think this is like the saying ‘if you wouldn’t drink it, don’t cook with it’ when referring to wine.  If you wouldn’t put it in your master suite, don’t put it in your guest room.  Giving guests a comfortable space to stay doesn’t take much, so be sure to have nice linens in both the bedroom and bathroom.

Guest Bedroom Decorating Tips with Serena and Lily

For this bedroom I went with:

Sheets  |  Duvet Cover  |  White Throw Pillow  |  Euro Shams (sand)  |  Tan throw pillow  |  Throw Blanket (oatmeal)

As you can see, for me personally I decorate on a neutral pallet, so like to keep my guest room that way too.  I never over do it on throw pillows, and especially due to our space being in the basement, try to keep things bright and airy.  The linen sheets and duvet cover are GORGEOUS, and so soft in person.  I love that they had a bit more of a relaxed feel to them, hoping that they would portray that feeling to my guests.

I also always ALWAYS have a throw blanket on the end of the bed.  I want my guests to know it is available for them to use, not just for decoration, so I try to keep it out in and in plain sight.

Serena and Lily Linen Duvet

Leave a tray with helpful items

I know you’re not a hotel, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t agreeing to host someone and keep them comfortable while they are in your home.  Depending on the guest, sometimes it is helpful to leave a few things that might make them feel more comfortable.  For me that always includes bottled water and coasters.  I personally do not care that people use coasters in my guest room, but I always try to leave them available incase someone is worried about it.

Guest Bedroom bed with Tray

Another item we keep on the tray is a Google Home.  Like I stated above, we have 4 loud kids, so I love that it can work as a white noise machine, alarm clock, and so many other things.  (and don’t worry if they aren’t sure how to use it… tip 3 will help you with that!)

This tray is also a great place to put your tv remote or remotes.  I personally put mine in a small container, but I think in general putting them somewhere contained can be helpful.

 Leave a note

I use this print out for my guests.  Having the wifi info is always helpful for guests, and if I don’t have it ready for them I always have to go look it up.  I also leave a couple of helpful prompts they can ask the google home, and remind them to make themselves at home.  This would be a great way to give tv or remote directions too.

If you want to use my exact note (with blanks for your wifi info) you can Print Welcome Note here

 ALWAYS have a mirror

You should either have a full length mirror or a large over the dresser mirror in a guest room.  This way you are giving your guest more space to get ready.  Our guest bathroom is very small, and barely comfortable for 1 person, let alone 2.  Offering a mirror in the bedroom allows them to get ready with more space, or for one person to be using the bathroom while the other does hair/makeup.

Teak Ladder Mirror Serena and Lily

I just got this Teak Ladder Mirror from Serena & Lily and it is gorgeous and the perfect addition to a room.  It is the perfect width to work well as a full length mirror without being too cumbersome, and I love that it offers more of a decor aspect than a plain mirror!

Provide functional furniture aside from the bed

I know that sounds silly, but I also know that the guest room is often times the last place to get love.  I have learned from experience to have either a nightstand on both sides, or furniture that can work as such available.  The Serena & Lily stools are a perfect choice because they are so cute as pure decor, but can be moved for function.  That way if your guest room is like mine, you can only offer one nightstand, and they can move these next to a chair, or beside the bed as needed. (this is great if people use a sleeping machine of any kind, or wear glasses and such!).

Serena and Lily furniture

Serena and Lily Dipped stools and Teak Ladder Mirror

I also think providing a spot for them to sit – even if thats just a small metal chair in the corner, is important. Many times beds are too high to sit on for putting on shoes and things of that nature, so offering a chair/bench/ stool is very helpful.

The other details in the bedroom

Some guests like to hang their clothing, so be sure to have room in the closet, or an over the door hook.  Also make sure you provide night lights in both the room, outside the room, and in the bathroom!

Stock the bathroom for emergencies

If you follow only one of these tips, let it be this one.  I try really hard to stock our guest bathroom with anything your guest might need between going downstairs to get in bed, and morning.  Especially with a guest that didn’t drive, you don’t want them to worry if they don’t want to bother you for something. I keep everything in a small container, and actually a lot of it is stuff we have collected from hotels! The items we have on hand for guests – toothbrush and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, Advil, q-tips, cotton balls, razor, and all bathroom products like shampoo and soap.

Bathroom with blue cabinets

Bathroom emergencies container

Serena and Lily stools with towels

Go with color for the towels and washcloths

I never want my guests to worry that they ‘ruined’ towels or washcloths, so I went with grey for our guest area.  I also LOVE that the Serena & Lily bath sheets are VERY large, so your guests won’t feel as tho they are coming out of the bathroom wrapped in a hand towel.

The bathroom linens in our bathroom:

Bath Sheets ( color: smoke)  |  Hand Towels (color: smoke)  |  Washcloths (color: fog)   |  Bathmat

Also another little tip for keeping those washcloths and towels clean is to keep makeup removing wipes and face wash towelettes for your guests if they want to use them!

Hopefully these tips guest bedroom decorating tips will help you create a space you love, and your guests will be raving about.  If you have any questions leave it in the comments below, and I would love to hear any great tips you have too!

DIY Large Wall Rainbow

Last week when I posted Goldie’s Nursery the real show stopper was FOR SURE the DIY large wall rainbow.  I half knew that would be the case, because I also LOVE it, but also can’t help but laugh because it was totally the last minute item that I didn’t plan on. When I first set out to do Goldie’s room I only wanted a couple touches of rainbows, but when it was missing something I did what I do best…got creative, and the outcome was seriously  too good not to share!

DIY Large Wall Rainbow

This DIY was equal parts easy and exhausting.  Due to the large scale, completing each color was just a whole lot of tedious (yet easy) work.

rainbow baby girl nursery

Nursery with pink dresser and rainbow

What you need:

1 foam water noodle per stripe of rainbow

Yarn (for me it took basically 1 thing of yarn per stripe) – either go with varying widths or all the same. (I know that sounds silly, but what I am saying is mix it up half and half ish or do them all the same…don’t just have one be different) I found that Walmart had the best prices on some wider yarn!

White yarn for the ends – looks best with a bit wider yarn (one thing will be more than enough)

Hot glue gun and sticks!

DIY Large Wall Rainbow

How to:

  • Start with your outter most stripe of the rainbow.  You will basically just start by hot glueing carefully and wrapping the first few rounds.
  • I hot glued the end into the middle hole of the noodle.  I then had the end of the noodle slightly covered with yarn. yarn wrapped noodle for rainbow
  • Once you’re an inch or so down the noodle length you no longer need to hot glue.  Just wrap and keep things nice and tight. Make sure if noodle is showing you shimmy it all up a bit before you get much further down.
  • Once you’re about 6 inches from the end put a dot of hot glue and stop.  DON’T CUT THE YARN OFF.
  • At this point you are going to make the white end tassels.  For this you literally just hot glue white yarn strips to the bottom all the way around.  My tip is to glue it a couple inches up and use a lot of glue at the very top.  Don’t worry about length because you will trim the once this stripe is done.
  • Once the white is on pick back up on your color and continue wrapping.
  • When you are on top of the white you may have to hot glue a bit more.  Make sure you are keeping the white covered and go to the very end of the noodle.
  • Fully glue the last couple of rounds, and cut your yarn.
  • Trim white tassels to preferred length.
  • NEXT YOU HAVE TO HANG OR MOCK HANG THAT STRIPE
  • The reason you will hang or at least mock hang (which is what I did is because each stripe going down will be shorter.  So take your first stripe up and hold it at your desired shape if you are doing a half rainbow like I am, and hold the next tier below it.  Make a mark where that one needs to end.Cut water noodle
  • You will likely cut a couple inches of noodle off with each stripe.  Use a serrated knife and cut off the noodle, then start back from the top!

Hanging it:

Once you have all your stripes to your rainbow fully completed its time to hang it! Just like with making the rainbow you will hang it by starting on the outer most stripe. I used THESE command strips.  For each rainbow stripe I placed 2 to 3 strips then placed the stripe on the wall.  I was careful to push it towards the corner and up to get it in place then pushed hard to make the velcro ish material stick. Again repeat this for each tier.

DIY large wall rainbow

Like I said…this was probably more easy than you expected.  If you have questions on the DIY large wall rainbow please feel free to leave me comments below.   I will also share some of my other favorite nursery DIY’s below.  I have created at least one, if not more DIY for each of my kids rooms, and it is such a special part of their little space for me.  Next week I will be sharing how I turned a simple IKEA dresser into her sweet pink dresser, so if you are interested in that post be sure to watch for it on Instagram!

Movie Night Birthday Party

Avé turned FIVE last week, and that meant we needed to do something to celebrate the big weekend.  Our sweet kiddos agreed to a couple of fun activities instead of a big party this year.  Which FYI – with a newborn in tow that was perfect by me.  That being said we wanted to do something fun to celebrate our girl and the big day it was (because hello – FIVE is big).  So with Avé’s love of movies, we threw her a movie night birthday party.

Before you leave be sure to check out her pink puppy themed party from last year!

Movie Night Birthday Party

Like I said in the opener this was simple.  We did this just to surprise Avé, and it was only for our family, so everything was inexpensive and done on a smaller scale, but it turned out so cute I couldn’t wait to share!

Popcorn and Pajamas Birthday Party

The Details

I purchased a lot of the details at Michaels – the fun balloons, plates and straws were perfect for this theme!  I used this tutorial for my balloon garland and it was SO HELPFUL!

I also surprised her with new Pajamas these PJ’s are SO SOFT and she is IN LOVE.

For the cups and the popcorn containers they were a bit of a DIY.  (see below)

I also used my Silhouette to make the letters on the wall for the backdrop!

DIY Details

I didn’t do too much on the DIY front, but happened to have THIS printable vinyl on hand, and made a couple of items that ended up being so cute I wanted to share. For the cups I printed the sheet below and cut them out with scissors. I then placed them on each of the cups.  It was so simple and had the cutest outcome!

Pink and star themed cup

For the popcorn containers it was slightly LESS simple, but still pretty easy.  I bought the popcorn containers I used at the dollar store 2/$1. (but the printable will work for nearly any!)

To use the same printable vinyl one thing you need to do is put 2 sheets of plain white down, THEN your printed sheet.  My containers had a scalloped top, so although I traced it with, I cut the vinyl in a straight line not showing the red beneath.  It was so simple and honesty was the cutest part of the whole thing.

Goldies’s Rainbow Nursery – Subtle and Sweet

Finally at 6 weeks old I am ready to share Goldie’s Rainbow Nursery .  I knew I wanted a fun, bright theme for her sweet room, and had a few aspects that I fully planned to tie into the boho look, but in the end it just reminds me of a sweet rainbow.

All sources for the items in this nursery are linked near the end of this post!

Goldie’s Rainbow Nursery

Sweet Goldie is our surprise 4th baby and our last (read more about what a surprise she was in this post).

I was SO hoping she would be a sweet girl that we could name Goldie (the name we had loved since having our 3rd who was a boy).  When we found out it was a girl I was beyond excited to get going on her nursery!

Hanging Serena and Lily Chair with Wall Rainbow

I struggled a bit on the direction to go with her room.  I knew I didn’t want it too pink. When we had our first daughter I painted her room pink and was going for ‘blush’ but got ‘pepto dismal’ haha!  It was still a darling room but made me want a slightly more neutral space.

The DIY’s From Her Rainbow Nursery

Before I get going on the full room – below are the two major DIY projects that went into the space! – I am a firm believer that a good DIY can take a room from great to perfect! So check these out for inspiration on your room.

My Design Process

When I started thinking about Goldie’s Nursery I knew I wanted white walls due to the small room, and to tie in color elsewhere.

The three items that were somewhat non negotiable for me were: The Serena and Lily Hanging Chair, The rainbow pillow, and the star and moon wall hooks.  I loved those three items, and needed to tie them in.

I should note – there is no real reason for that.  They are just items that I had been day dreaming of using incase we ever had another baby girl, so I was so excited to make that happen.

Normally when I decorate a room I have a pretty good set plan, but nurseries are always hard for me.

When I did Walker’s nursery a few years ago I had a hard time too, and I think it is all based on the hormones.  My decision making is not as quick as normal so I end up teetering on choices.

One thing I did know EARLY on was that I really wanted a pink dresser.  I had an idea to do an IKEA hack for the dresser, and although I nearly went with a store bought version I ended back at that IKEA idea, and am so happy with it.

Pink Ikea Tarva Dresser

The crib was a fairly easy choice for me – I went with a white, and modern look.  After having a crib that could convert to a full bed with my other three and never doing so, I knew that wasn’t an important decision for me, so I just wanted something affordable an simple.

Once those big choices were made – chair, crib, dresser – and I had some direction with the theme because of the moon and stars and the rainbow pillow I was ready to start assembling and seeing a room come together.

Furniture:

Chair  |  Dresser  |  Crib

Goldie’s Chair is the Serena and Lily hanging chair – I will tell you that my husband was anti me getting it, but gave in.

Now, he is a believer.  It is so comfortable and everyone in the family LOVES it. – I actually love it so much that we ended up adding one to my older daughters room (see her room here).  I also did a full blog review on the chair HERE.

Again – below is the gorgeous white crib.  It comes in several options, but I opted for solid white, and it has been fantastic! I love that the line for the top is at the same height all the way around, keeping it modern and casual.

White crib with pink boho accents

Like I said above on the dresser – it is an IKEA hack.  I found it hard to find an affordable pink dresser so thought the hack was the way to go to get the look that I wanted.

I have the full blog post here for the exact materials and paint colors.

For a short breakdown – I did new drawer pulls, new feet, and paint.  I had to dismantle an area, so if you want to tackle the project I definitely would say you should read the post first.

So far we have LOVED IT. The drawers are huge, and it is my favorite dresser in our house.

Paint Color – Valspar Du Jour ( see my favorite neutral paint colors here)

When it came to making this a rainbow nursery I went with lots of pops of pinks and bright colors.  I am a true pink lover so I went heavier on the pink with the secondary color being yellow.

The yellow was a bit of a play on her name – Goldie, but also because I just kept calling her our ‘sunshine girl’.

Rattan Chair with rainbow and G pillows

On her dresser I used items that would look great in the room for functional pieces.

The Diaper basket it a small planter from Target.  I love having a diaper caddy, but loved that this worked great to put a pack of wipes and diapers in that were perfect.

I also used a fun piece from Pottery Barn Kids to store her pacifiers. This piece is actually usually used for hair brushes I believe – but it is so cute for her pacifiers.  Getting creative with storage can add to a room so well!

I added the wood beads to the crib to add warmth on that side – they were removed when she started sleeping in her bed.

And the Tapestry over her bed is perfection – so simple and didn’t make me worry with her sleeping under it.

Her bookshelves and the felt banner were the perfect useful space, and the “drop of Golden Sun” line remains one of my favorite pieces in her room.

Wicker basket with pompoms

The wood bead garlands I hung with tiny command hooks.  These will be removed before she sleeps in the room!   I wanted a bit more contrast on that side of the room but wasn’t finding a crib sheet that I loved, so this ended up being a great way to add interest to the simple white space.

Another little detail was hanging the DIY wood star and pom pom to the basket.  I love adding small aspects to a room, and when a room is as simple as Goldie’s it needed these pops!

This was such a simple little item from the craft store – I actually think maybe a Christmas ornament.  Then pompoms add to everything!

Creating the Perfect Rainbow for a Rainbow Nursery

The last big decorative aspect to her room was the DIY rainbow.

I knew that corner NEEDED something – actually I was originally trying to come up with an idea using Washi tape but couldn’t get it quite right, and somehow decided this could work.

DIY Wall hanging Rainbow

I didn’t want to do a full rainbow, only because I didn’t want it ‘too rainbowy’, and this ended up being PERFECT!
